With the hot weather fast approaching, so is that love-and-hate relationship with the sun. While we all crave it, it also damages our skin. As you know, solar radiation is the main cause of premature aging —saggy and dry skin, wrinkles and dark spots. So even if you are a regular sunscreen user, we’ve put together a list of tips that will help you maintain a youthful, luminous and even complexion.
TIP Nº 1
The sun’s rays inevitably reach our skin, come
winter or summer, and whether it’s sunny or cloudy. So remember to apply protection before heading
out. For face, neck and décolleté, the ideal
quantity of sun cream is two lines running from the fingertip to the base of the index and middle finger.
And don’t forget to apply it also in those neglected areas, such as ears, nape of the neck and behind the
knees.
PRO TIP: If you are planning to wear
make-up,
you can apply sunscreen as a pre-base before starting your make-up ritual.

TIP Nº 2
The sun is at its hottest from noon until around four. Now that outdoor terraces are in season, try to find a nice shady spot to minimize the time your skin is directly exposed to the sun. And be sure to avoid the sun during this peak period of the day and do not sunbathe for more than two hours, even with sunscreen, or your skin will suffer.
TIP Nº 3
For total protection, use hats or similar garments to cover the most exposed areas, such as the face, décolleté or shoulders. The eye contour is also a very delicate area, where the sun can cause dryness, wrinkles and saggy skin. Sunglasses are your best ally, though try to find a quality pair fitted with UVA and UVB filters.
TIP Nº 4
During the hot summer months, it is important to increase the consumption of photo-protective and antioxidant foods, such as melon, citrus fruits, kiwis, pineapple, broccoli and spinach, to boost the skin’s natural defenses.
TIP Nº 5
Some fragrances include ingredients that can cause the appearance of dark spots when they come into contact with the sun’s rays. To make sure this doesn’t happen, always apply it on your clothes and not on your skin.
TIP Nº 6
Certain medications, such as anti-inflammatory drugs or contraceptives, can cause photo-sensitivity in your skin, making it more prone to dark spots. If you are taking any medication, be very wary before exposing yourself to the sun and be sure to consult your doctor if in doubt.
TIP Nº 7
In summer you are more likely to get dehydrated, so remember to drink those two liters of water a day to keep your body working properly, which will also improve your skin’s appearance. You can also do your complexion a big favor by moisturizing it from the outside in, with a super hydrating and refreshing mask once or twice a week.
TIP Nº 8
It never hurts to give your skin a helping hand with a welcome beauty ritual. Vitamin C is a perfect choice for the summer, because it has impressive antioxidant properties and helps your body fight hyperpigmentation. Enjoy all of its benefits with our C+C Vitamin Line.
